Today brings a major nationwide USDA meat recall and a sizable Rivian vehicle recall. The USDA is recalling 167,639 pounds of beef, pork and goat products that were produced without federal inspection and carry a false USDA inspection mark. A Jaguar/Land Rover recall involving sudden loss of propulsion has also surfaced prominently.

  • USDA FSIS — 167,639 pounds of beef, pork and goat meat, false inspection mark. Star Meat Delivery Inc. of Lucama, North Carolina, is recalling approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products produced before September 22 without federal inspection. The products bear a false USDA establishment number, “EST. 1363,” which FSIS says does not belong to a federally inspected establishment.

They were shipped under the A&D Foods label to a Georgia distributor and then to retailers and restaurants nationwide. FSIS classifies recall 022-2026 as Class I, its highest-risk category. No illnesses have been confirmed, but FSIS says the products should be considered unsafe to eat.

Consumers should discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Importantly, retail stores may have repackaged the meat under their own labels, so the A&D Foods name or false establishment number may not always be visible on the consumer package.

  • Rivian — 98,828 EVs, rear camera can be obscured while backing up. Rivian is recalling certain 2022–2027 R1S, 2022–2026 R1T and 2027 R2 vehicles because a notification can appear on the center display and cover the rearview-camera image while the vehicle is in reverse. That reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle and increases the risk of striking another vehicle or pedestrian.
  • NHTSA campaign 26V597 covers 98,828 vehicles. Rivian says it has released a free over-the-air software update, and no crashes or injuries have been reported. The campaign was filed September 16 but became broadly publicized today.

  • Jaguar/Land Rover — 23,677 SUVs, possible sudden loss of drive power and lights. Jaguar Land Rover expanded an earlier action to cover 23,677 vehicles, including various 2019–2024 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport and Velar models, plus Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace models.
  • The DC-DC converter can fail under high electrical demand or because of a software error, potentially causing loss of 12-volt charging followed by complete loss of propulsion and exterior lighting. Dealers will update the software free of charge. NHTSA campaign 26V599 expands an earlier recall.

  • Toyota/Lexus — small recall, serious steering hazard. Only 617 vehicles are involved, but the defect is consequential. Certain 2026 Lexus RX, RX Hybrid, TX and TX Hybrid, and Toyota Grand Highlander and Grand Highlander Hybrid models may have front steering knuckles that can crack and break, potentially causing loss of steering control. Dealers will inspect and replace the knuckles free. Campaign 26V598. Recall Bench
